CHW NPA Caucus Overview

Vision Statement: To achieve impactful progress toward regional and national recognition of the value of community health workers in community health promotion and health care delivery.

Mission Statement: To improve health equity and population health through the implementation and sustainability of CHWs nationally by addressing health disparities and social determinants of health, especially within underserved communities. This mission will be accomplished with the application of research, examining payment models and collaborating with key payers, providers, policy makers, community leaders, CHW leaders, and government agencies within the health sector.

  1. Elevate awareness and understanding of CHW initiatives, as promoted by RHECs outreach and support. 
  2. Ensure better dissemination of best practices by sharing existing environmental scan data and research of effective CHW program models nationally. 
  3. Assemble key stakeholders to further build multi-state collaborations, innovation and coordination for greater CHW utilization. 
  4. Identify available resources to support effective, scalable pilot demonstration programs for CHW employment, development and program sustainability. 
  5. Maximize, consolidate and coordinate existing state and federal efforts to better achieve CHW progress. 
  6. Effectively promote the value of CHW skills developed through Common Core Training, thereby increasing multi-state and national recognition of the service CHWs provide for more positive healthcare outcomes. 
  7. Identify the benefits achieved via CHW employment to greater effectiveness of alternative payment models and healthcare reform programs.

  5. Operations, Governance and Strategy – a Task Group of the Executive Committee, open to any interested member (led by the co-chairs). Any issues of fiscal agents and active revenue for the CRCC will be handled in this Task Group.
